The Baylor Scott & White Research Institute (BSWRI) is the dedicated R&D arm of the system, staffing over 400 employees (scientists, research nurses, clinical coordinators) and operating more than 200,000 sq. ft. of research space. BSWRI conducts more than 1,400 active research protocols spanning over 60 medical specialties, and publishes more than 500 peer-reviewed articles per year. The Institute provides the business and regulatory infrastructure needed to accelerate medical breakthroughs, overseeing nearly 2,000 active trials each year across more than 50 specialties.
